Are there any special requirements to become a mystery shopper?
Most companies require that you be at least 18 years old to register as a mystery shopper.  Also, you will need a phone, a method of transportation, and either a fax machine or internet connection so that you can submit your evaluations to the company. (back to top)

No.  You will have the ability to pick and choose which assignments fit your schedule. (back to top)

Can I bring children, spouse, or friends with me?
Yes, unless the assignment specifically says not to.  Many mystery shoppers bring their children along to all of their assignments, and if you are eating out many times the company will pay for two meals. (back to top)

Are taxes taken out of my pay?
No.  In most cases, you will be working as an independent contractor, and you will be issued a 1099 form at the end of the year.  You will be responsible for keeping track of and filing your own taxes. (back to top)
